Oh sap.

I’m not going to let you comment on this video.  I realize ahead of time that it is extremely sappy.  The woman we’ve been working with as we try to rescue Sammy Oscar asked if I could email her some pictures of the house.  So I thought, better yet, I’ll make her a video slide show.  And then I went a little overboard, including pictures of us together and the cabin mixed with the sappiest Bonnie Raitt song, and now my eyes are teary.

I’ve got a vivid imagination, and I can see us now: Sean, me, and Sammy Oscar spending all sorts of quality time together on hikes and walks and the like.  It doesn’t help that the rescue woman keeps saying, “I’ve got a great feeling about you two.”  It only makes me believe that we will make the best adoption parents to our little homeless dog, ever.

Either this, or the cold medicine I’ve been overdosing on for the last five days is starting to get to me.

The verdict: he’s extremely cute.

They call him Sammy, not Oscar, at the kennel. He’s a good boy, although a little hyper, and I think that he’d be a good addition to our new family. Sammy Oscar is young yet, and in desperate need of some love.  He’s got a sweet face and a friendly demeanor.  Sammy Oscar likes long walks on the beach, candlelight Eukanuba dinners, and playing fetch.

Won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

In lieu of anything interesting to write about today aside from the normalcy of stressful customers and whatnot, I am ganking a video from my friend Binky’s website because you all need to witness such talent in the making:

Look at the future Miss Janis Joplin.

And to think! We knew her back when she could only chirp!

You’re going places, kid.

Sucky first attempt

Haha. This is fun. Today is my day off and I’ve just been sitting in front of my trusty Casio keyboard and computer singing and practicing my piano skills. I’ve been doing it for almost five hours, no lie. I am reminded of that mentally ill patient named Polly in the movie Girl Interrupted who breaks into the music room of the institution and when caught, says, “I’m feeling very musical today.”

I’m making up for weeks of not singing and not playing with a cheesy karaoke mic and lyrics found on Google.

This is that Wailin’ Jennys tune I posted last week, Long Time Traveler. I’m not very good at the alto part yet, as you can hear, and I would’ve sung the low alto part too but my camera batteries kicked the bucket. Meg, we have to learn this song.

And then there is one of my favorite song-stories, The Lighthouse’s Tale by Nickel Creek. I sing this one a lot at karaoke, usually solely for my own pleasure because it is long and everyone in the bar is way to drunk to listen to this many words. I love that this story is told from the perspective of a lighthouse.

The last verse cuts out (damn batteries), so I’ll write the lyrics here:

I am a lighthouse worn by the weather and the waves
And though I’m empty I still warn the sailors on their way

And now I should get to doing the dishes and making dinner before my poor stressed out Love gets home from work. Less than two weeks until the house closing. Let the fun begin.
