Is football season over yet?

Having a new house has its advantages.  For instance, friends like to come over and bring homemade cakes and flowers.

On Sunday night, we lit our first fire in the fireplace….

…and Sarah and Greg came over to watch the Giants beat the Packers in the qualifying game for the superbowl.

They baked us a cheesecake for the game and we all sat around for hours, the boys enjoying themselves, and Sarah and I pretending to enjoy ourselves, while football season died down to almost the LAST GAME.  Praise Allah and all that is good.

I don’t understand football.  I mean, I get the game — a bunch of men in helmets and tights run a football down a field and have four chances to make it to the yellow line.  They jump on each other, run into each other, and break each others’ teeth and bones, Yippee — but what I don’t understand is why men feel the success of their team is a matter of life and death.

Watch Sean’s reaction to when the Giants win:

I don’t get it.  Why is the superbowl such a huge deal?  It happens every. year.

  1. Um.

    Sry but I love football.

    GO PATS!

  2. I don’t really understand the fascination either, but it’s fun to watch the guys react.

    Nice footage. 🙂

  3. Oh…. if you were such an “unlucky” person like me – living in a country where stupid ole soccer is THE game – you´d just love football! (Luckily I live in a town where that game, american football, gets a good piece of the cake as well – 6 times german bowl defender, that is something, huh? ;-)…)

Compared to soccer american football is like chess, just faster and with cute-looking guys. It´s all about strategy, whilst soccer… is just chaos.

Sad thing, too: When the Superbowl is on it´s in the middle of the night over here. So… quite jealous 😉

  4. I don’t get it either. Sports fans in general. I mean I guess I can see why it might be entertaining, though I don’t find it so, but some fans get SO INTO IT! Like a loss will put them in a horrible mood all day, a win will elate them.

    Don’t get it.

  5. Rick’s the same way. Football football football. But it’s over….ahhhhhhh.

I tell him my shoe collection is my Football obsession.

  6. I don’t really get it – but I am a sucker for following the Formula One stuff – who’s driving for who – which team is getting done for cheating, and so on…

Which is weird, because I ride a bicycle everywhere.

  7. Go Giants!

  8. I like football, but try LIVING where the Superbowl is going to be played. It’s getting a bit nauseating all the trivial coverage they have the paper every day because it’s not even about football anymore.
