I hope you like jammin’, too.

Sean drove me to the hospital this morning for a scheduled upper GI scan.

The good news: I don’t have stomach cancer.
The bad news: we don’t know what is causing the pain.

I’m losing weight steadily even though I’m eating like a horse. I almost hoped that the scans today would show that I have a giant portal in my belly, transporting my food to some third world country. A portal would explain why I am eating every hour on the hour and weighing in at 102…..97…..96.4 pounds.

So I don’t have stomach cancer.

To celebrate, Sean and I drove to the town hall to register to vote and to apply for a dump permit. One bad thing about this town is that there is no trash pickup. We have two options: bring our garbage to the dump, or hire Oliver’s Rubbish Removal to pick it up for us for $19.50 a month. You never really think about how inconvenient trash can be until you no longer have somewhere to put it.

In the afternoon I took Sam hiking; today felt like summer. I’ve never really been a dog person, but I think Sammy Oscar –or Pooper, as we call him — is turning me. Cats are great and all, but they don’t like to ride in the car with the windows down, jamming to the new radio 104.1 FM.

  1. It was great weather for hiking today. After I dropped the older two girls off at school, I took Jules hiking this morning.

  2. Whew…it’s got to be a relief to know cancer isn’t the problem. (YAY!!)

I DO know how frustrating it is to not have an answer, though. I hope someday soon you’ll learn what the cause of all this is and will be on the road to much better health.

    Take care of yourself!

And who couldn’t love a dog with a face like Sammy’s? He’s such a cute doggy woggy, yes he is….

    🙂

  3. I was slightly saddened when they changed 104.1’s format… again… but it’s growing on me oh so slowly.

  4. ((((Lauren))))

  5. It’s not a tapeworm?

  6. $19.50/month? I wish any of the companies around here were that cheap! I’m not down with smelly, messy trash in my truck. Even hauling it to the end of our long driveway was too nasty. Plus, you have to buy special bags.
But the transfer station rules for getting rid of random stuff.

Maybe your stomach is from your nerves over the last few weeks catching up with you?

  7. Great news good luck “thyroid?”

  8. sorry you’re not feeling well. untreated diabetes causes weight loss. and celiac disorder (intolerance of gluten) can cause a myriad of health issues that masquerade as everything from GI to neurological. Despite the 1:132 incidence, it often takes up to 3 yrs. for diagnosis because MDs don’t think about wheat allergy. I hope it’s neither.

  9. Lauren, I hope that they can help you. I hope it’s ok, I’m saying prayers for you. It’s no fun being sick and not being able to figure out why, especially when your life is going so well.

  10. Aww Laur, I hope you can get to the bottom of this pain. I am glad its not cancer though.. Im not surprised that Sammy is turning you into a dog person.. It just takes having a dog to do so.. I love you and hope your feeling better sweetiexoxox A. Sanny
